Jordan frees journalist accused of undermining throne

AMMAN: Jordanian journalist Alaa Fazaa accused of “undermining the throne and Constitution” was released on bail Sunday, his family said.
Mona al-Batran, his wife, said the head of the military state security court, Colonel Ibrahim Abu Kaud, ordered the release.
Fazaa was detained Wednesday after two former ministers filed a complaint that he had allegedly included their names in a Facebook list of people calling for Prince Hamzah to be reinstated as crown prince.

King Abdullah named his half-brother Hamzah as heir following the death of their father King Hussein in 1999. Five years later, the king appointed his son Prince Hussein as crown prince after relieving Hamzah of his duties.
Fazaa faces another complaint after writing an article on the news website khabarjo.net, claiming senior officials helped prominent businessman Khalid Shaheen, who has been sentenced with three others to three years in jail, leave for medical treatment in the U.S.

Shaheen and three others, including a former minister, were sentenced last year to three years in jail over graft payments as part of a $2.1 billion project to upgrade the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, which runs the kingdom’s sole refinery.
In February, the government allowed Shaheen to travel to the United States – but there was an outcry in Jordan when, in April, he was spotted in a London restaurant.

9/7/16Mohammad Idris Mohammad AliJordan is an animal farm but worseI know Mr Alaa Fazza personally and I was in contact with him He is saying the truth but the Jordan gov or policy wants to oppress the journalist . I was also jailed, tortured and dismissed from all my jobs even private sector. The dictator king of Jordan has no tolerance to be criticised or even advised by any one of his nation. The constitution of Jordan from article 39-50 enables the king to be more than God that he is irresponsible of his actions. In his hand the full dictator authorities
