Latin American-Arab forum searches for Arab members, seeks to communicate away from official framework
 

Mustafa Abu Nabaa, a Palestinian businessman who heads the Middle East programs for the Latin America-Arab forum, ended his visit to Lebanon which was part of a tour of the Middle East aimed at recruiting candidates to join the forum’s board of trustees.
 
The forum's purpose is to bridge the gap between the Middle East and Latin America, which Middle Easterners primarily regarded as a refuge.
 
Abu Nabaa, who lives in the Dominican Republic, said the interest in developing relations between Latin America and the Middle East “has been around for two years from when we found a need to develop work between Arabs and Latin Americans.”
 
“It is true that there are a majority of Arabs that have immigrated to Latin America, particularly from Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, but the relationship between the two peoples lacks knowledge and communications.”

A deal between the national council and coordination committee
 
The Syrian National Coordination Committee told the forces of democratic change in a statement Saturday that it reached an agreement with the Syrian National Council, which is drawing up Syria's future and specifying the transitional stage that would require the fall of President Bashar Assad's government. Meanwhile, the Arab observer mission in Syria and repression continued.
 
The Syrian National Council includes a large number from the Syrian opposition while the committee includes members from the Syrian Leftist party, the Labor Socialist party, the Socialist party, 11 Kurdish members as well as figures from the Syrian opposition.
 
In its statement, the committee said it was happy to announce the news of the political agreement with the Syrian National Council in Cairo Friday following over a month of talks that brought together an important number from both sides.
 
The committee clarified that Burhan Ghalioun, president of the national council, signed the agreement along with Haitham al-Munaa from the committee.
 
The statement added that the agreement stipulated outlining the political rules for the democratic struggle and the transitional phase.

Syria's official media launches campaign against observers to discredit them, accusing a Saudi observer of provoking "armed gangs"
 
Syrian activists accused the Syrian government of fabricating stories about the Arab observers which started with a campaign against Khaled al-Rabean, a Saudi member of the observers team, because he insisted on going to Douma's protesters without the company of security, members of the Shabiha, or the pro-government Al-Dunya TV.
 
Iyad Sharbatgi, a journalist and an activist, said the aim of the campaign against the Saudi observer was to pressure him to quit given that he had punched a hole in the theatrical campaign the government is trying to fabricate in front of the observers committee.
